Instructional Design Specialist - Bellin College (5237 PV)
Shift Hours:FT (1.0)/80 - Variable Day and PM Hours
The Instructional Design Specialist researches and applies best practices in learning theory, course design principles, instructional technology, and quality review standards that promote excellence in teaching and learning. This position will evaluate and develop digital content, tools, resources, course templates, and a variety of instructional materials and technology integration for the academic programs. The incumbent will consult with faculty on quality course design and will serve as backup administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS).
Knowledge of instructional design principles, theories, models, applications, and technologies. Broad and efficient technical skill set including research and utilization of instructional technologies. Ability to interpret instructional/programming needs and produce appropriate instructional materials. Knowledge of quality course management standards and best practices in designing courses that promotes student engagement. Familiar with the operation and maintenance of a Microsoft Windows environment. Familiarity with software troubleshooting. Possess strong teaching, social, and communication skills. Familiar with learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and hardware used in a teaching environment. Strong interpersonal skills and customer service ethic including a friendly and helpful attitude. Willingness to learn. Excellent problem-solving skills. Able to maintain accurate records and confidentiality. Compatible with and supportive of the College’s mission, vision, purpose, and values. Ability to present technology related information and tools effectively to non-technical learners with varying backgrounds and skill levels. High attention to detail and strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to work effectively independently and within a fast-paced team.
Two years of computer and/or instructional design experience or equivalent education and training. Experience with training and instructional document development. Experience with LMS administration is a plus. Experience in the design and development of accessible course templates based on established instructional design theories and practical experience preferred. Experience within a higher education institution and/or health care setting strongly desired.
